Building Your House Upon the Rock

rockofchrist

As I was reading the Bible last night, I came to this group of scripture in Matthew Chapter 7 that talks about building your house upon the rock.  First of all, your house is not a physical house but your body or life.  The Rock represents the son of God, Jesus. Philippians 2:9-11- says: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  • So if we want to build our life upon Jesus, we need to follow his laws and commandments.  John 14:15 and 14:21 says:  If ye love me, keep my commandments.  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
  • We need to follow his example.  Matthew 16:24 says: Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.  John 14:12 says: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
  • Ephesians 6:10-17 says: -Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
  • Be Obedient to Christ.  Matthew 7:24,25 says: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
  • Be established in Your Faith in Christ.  Colossians 2:6,7 says:As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

I believe Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Without Jesus, there is no remissions of sins:
