It is easy to get ensnared into the cares of this life; whether it is money, careers, or a nice lifestyle. So we need to put on the whole armor of God to protect us from snares that can catch us off guard and get us focused on other things, other than doing God’s will. Not only that, we need to guard our hearts and minds against things that are not good for us. To me I think I enjoy reading things about crime stories, but I know they are not the healthiest thing for my mind to watch. In order to be the Christian God wants me to be, I must keep on the strait and narrow path, avoiding those ungodly temptations. The path toward God’s kingdom.
Colossians 3:1-6-If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: Peter 1:13-Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Spiritual attacks come to the true Christian. Satan doesn’t wan’t you focused on God. He will send things your way to keep your mind on other things. Perhaps a movie that sounds interesting, but not necessarily a good movie to watch. To be spiritually minded, we need to stop watching or reading things that are ungodly or worldly.
If you want to defeat the Devil, you must put on the armor of God. Ephesians 6:11-18 says, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the
gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all
prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
