Servants Obey Your Masters

Today, when a person works in the public eye, it is easy for them to see changes in how people act in the workforce, as compared to a few years ago.  This may seem harsh but I feel that it is true. More and more people are becoming disobedient to their bosses, disrespectful of the customer, forward and lazy in their jobs.  Recently I took a leadership role at my job.  I thought it would be easy to lead others at work by example.  The more I tried to help the employees, so they would have an easier day, the more disrespect I was shown.  This might seem odd, but true.

I have seen more and more disrespect from coworkers than ever before.  I believe we are closer to the Lords return than ever before. The Bible tells us that in the end times these things will happen.  1 Timothy 3:1-5 says: This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  Satan is working overtime to corrupt people’s minds.  We need to be aware of these things and be cautious of what we allow ourselves to watch or see. (If you are watching a YouTube movie that is violent, turn it off).

Colossians 3:22 says: Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God. Your boss is your master and you need to obey him, but not if it goes against God’s law. If you are a boss, be good to your servants or workers. Colossians 4:1 says: Masters give things right and equal to them, knowing you have a master in Heaven.

1 Peter 2:18 says: Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the forward.  This means that we are to obey our bosses, even if they are disrespectful to us. I know this is hard to do but the Bible says in verse 19: For this is thankworthy; if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.  But if we take it patiently, this is acceptable of God (verse 20). 1 Peter 3:9 says, Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

It is human nature for someone to want to strike back at someone when they are offended. No one likes to be mocked, ridiculed or hurt by someone else. One thing that a Christian must work on is self-control. They should control their actions and tongue in order to present themselves as a Christian.  Christians should not retaliate against others but have forgiveness, love and meekness.  Work your job the best you can, for this brings the Lord honor.
