Not to long ago I watched the Republican Convention and it saddened me greatly. Many look to one leader to bring this country back to where it once was. It is going to take much more than a person or leader, but it will take a nation leaning on God for this to happen. This country (America) was once a nation under God. The very fiber of its being began from Christian persecution. It wasn’t freedom from religion but freedom to worship and believe on the Lord above, without compromise. The Declaration of Independence states: “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
One thing that Melania Trump said in her speech was that we ought to love one another and show compassion for others. This couldn’t have been spoken any better. Our country has been divided by people looking for something. They should be looking to Jesus for answers, instead of a President for answers. They should be loving others more than themselves. Our nation should be looking to the Father above for his guidance and direction. Psalms 33:12 says: “Blessed is the Nation whose GOD is the LORD; and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.” This is the only way that America will become a great nation again. Some think it is impossible but it could happen if people would turn back to God and repent. I know that no matter what happens to this country, that my home is in Heaven. I am looking for a peaceful country, whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10).
Christians should be looking forward to seeing the country that God is preparing for us. Hebrews 11:16 says: But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. Hebrews chapter 11 talks about the faith of God’s people. They confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. They were looking forward to going to their eternal home in the Heavens. 2 Peter 3:13 says, “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
Revelation 21:1-4- And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Hebrews 11:10-For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
