Making Plans for the New Year

new year1It is that time of year that everybody begins to make plans for the New Year.  They make resolutions of things they want to accomplish during the year.  Some plan out things they want to do such as: where they want to travel to, additions they will make to their house, or they might even plan to start a new business. This time I hope you will include your plans to serve Christ.  Look at different ways you can witness, different ways you can serve others, different ways you can share the gospel.  I urge you to use those talents the Lord has given you and move ahead.  Don’t look back but look forward toward the future, but always keep in mind the Lord’s will. The Lord has a will for your life and we should always keep that in mind when we make decisions regarding our future.

Some may not realize that God has plans for his people.  He wants his people to prosper and live godly lives.  He wants to increase your finances, give you good health, and make you happy.  He has provided so many things to us that we take for granted.  He has given us children, homes, food and a lot of extras.  He gave us his only son, Jesus to die for our sins on the cross.  In return we should try to honor him and tell others about the love of God.

In this blog I try to get my readers to stop and evaluate things in their lives that they could do for the Lord.  This time of year is probably the best time to think about what you have done for the Lord in the past and what you can do for him in the future.  I know sometimes things happen that may change our plans but making plans for the future is like having a vision for the future; a vision to accomplish something great for the Lord.  It shouldn’t be a time of regret of things we didn’t do last year, but a time to reflect on things we can do this year that will bring us closer to God.  God is looking for those that want to serve him.  He knows sometimes things happen where we must change our plans of service but he waits patiently for us to resume.  He knows we are weak in the flesh and we are not able to run non stop but we must have times of rest. We must have time to recoup our thoughts, recoup our relationship with him and to purge out those things we have in our lives that are hindering our service to the Lord. Remember life is but a vapor and it will pass quickly. Don’t put off things you can do now for later. I hope you will consider God and remain humble in your plans for the future. Things you do in life matters. Everything you do should be for the glory of the Lord.

I realize that some are starting to look at the New Year with anticipation and some with uncertainty.  I want to say if you are a child of God, you have no reason to fear or to worry because the Lord will be with you and take care of you.  Lets look at the following Bible verses that tell us how much the Lord loves us.

Psalm 1:3- Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Luke 6:38-Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall measured to you again.

Jeremiah 29:11-For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Psalm 84:11-For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Isaiah 54:17-No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Jeremiah 1:5-Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

2 Chronicles 7:14-If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I believe Jesus, the son of God, died on a cross for the sins of the whole world. I believe he arose after three days and now sits on the right side of God in Heaven. I believe Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Without Jesus, there is no remissions of sins:
