How much do you love the Lord? What are you willing to sacrifice for Jesus? Are you willing to walk alone and stand up against those that are against him? Are you willing to leave mother, father, brother for the cause of Christ? Let me tell you a story about a man that was disowned by his own mother for believing in Jesus Christ. William J Murray is a Baptist minister that decided that he would not follow the footsteps of his mother, for she was an atheist. He went on to do things for Christ; currently serving as the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition, a non-profit organization in Washington DC, active on issues related to aiding Christians in Islamic and Communist countries. His mother fought hard against religious freedom; She went as far as to stop prayers in schools. If you don’t know his mother, her name will ring a bell.
Madalyn Murray O’Hair was an atheist activist; a founder of the American Atheists, a non profit organization that fights for the civil liberties of atheists and advocates for the complete separation of church and state. Ms. O’Hair later filed lawsuits to prevent prayers or reading the Bible in public, such as when Buzz Aldrin wanted to quote the Bible in the Apollo 11 mission. She was later kidnapped and murdered by a convicted felon that was out on parole, which was a former employee.
There is coming a day when your family, brethren, friends will betray you. They will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for believing in Jesus Christ (Luke 21:12). Are you willing to walk alone, be persecuted and stand for things that are right? It may seem as if you are all alone, but there is one mightier and greater than any man upon this earth. The Lord Jesus said that he will never leave you or forsake you. Keep doing the work of the ministry no matter who goes against you, because one day you will receive your reward in Heaven.
Jesus had to walk alone when he went to the cross, only the Heavenly Father was with him. His disciples and his loved ones couldn’t help him. He was despised and rejected of men (Isaiah 53:3). Now Jesus stands on the right hand of the father and he will come again and call his children home to be with him for eternity in Heaven.
Isaiah 53:3-He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Luke 21:16-And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Hebrews 13:5-Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
