Have you ever thought about what gossiping is and how it affects others. Gossip is defined as idle talk or rumor, especially about personal or private affairs of others. Another way to define gossiping is to the deliberately and intentionally spreading of dirt and misinformation about others, as (for example) through excited discussion.
First think of the person you are gossiping about. Whether what you spread is true or not true, gossiping can hurt someone in more ways than one. First consider the thing you are spreading to others. Could it be a viscous lie? Then if you are spreading this gossip, you are maliciously spreading lies about someone. Spreading lies and rumors about someone else, can hurt that person mentally and hinder their spiritual walk. Gossiping comes from Satan and is used to hurt someone’s testimony or affect their lives in a negative way. It is done spitefully by someone and is viciously done to wrongfully slander someone in a mischievous way.
Spreading lies and sowing discord is something the Bible speaks negatively about. It clearly states that the Lord hates this. Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us things the Lord hates. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren is listed in Proverbs 6:19.
Gossiping about others is a form of bullying. Read this post about this topic: https://godlywitnesses.wordpress.com/2013/11/08/bullying-must-stop/
